History of Arya Samaj in Fiji

1918 – ESTABLISHMENT OF GURUKUL PRIMARY SCHOOL

The Arya Samaj was established in Fiji in 1904. It was the first religious, cultural, and educational organisation of the Indian community in Fiji. The arrival of indentured labourers from India brought with it the rich cultural heritage and the reforming zeal of the Arya Samaj.

Since its inception, the Sabha has played a pivotal role in the social and educational upliftment of the people of Fiji, establishing numerous schools and colleges across the nation. It stood firmly against social evils and worked tirelessly for the rights and dignity of the people.

To promote the physical, spiritual, and social well-being of the community; to dispel ignorance and promote knowledge through a holistic programme of studies; and to foster universal brotherhood.

“To make the World Noble” (Krinvanto Vishvam Aryam) through education, spiritual enlightenment, and social service.

Principles of Arya Samaj

The Ten Principles of Arya Samaj constitute the foundation of this reformist Hindu movement. They emphasize the authority of the Vedas, monotheism (formless God), righteousness, and social welfare
